Bayern coach says criticism justified

Bayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes says he is giving no thought to being fired despite the troubles at the club.

The DPA news agency reports Heynckes as saying that “the criticism is justified, of me personally, too. I am responsible for the whole thing, so I have to try and bring about the turnaround (in fortunes).”

Wednesday’s 1-0 loss to FC Basel left Bayern’s Champions League campaign on the brink, and the club has slipped four points behind Bundesliga leader Borussia Dortmund after two wins from five league games this year.

Bayern plays fourth-place Schalke on Sunday, and the visitors could move ahead of the Munich team with a win.
