Preview:

The signing of AB de Villiers saw the Brisbane Heat’s Big Bash odds slashed and it is fair to say the market has overreacted. The South African is obviously a superstar and he will make a difference, but he will only join the squad in the second half of the season and there are still plenty of issues with this side. If Chris Lynn doesn’t make runs, the Heat struggle to post a credible total and their bowling attack still lacks quality. They have signed Ben Laughlin, but he is something of a spent force and the likes of Josh Lalor, Mark Steketee and Mitch Swepson have always struggled for consistency. The Heat are well and truly under the odds and it wouldn’t surprise if they missed the finals again.
