Kyrgios proposes tennis fire fundraiser

Tennis star Nick Kyrgios is putting his hand up to help Australians affected by bushfires by proposing a charity exhibition match.

Kyrgios wants Tennis Australia and some of the game’s biggest stars to help raise funds for affected communities.

The world No.30 posted his idea late to Twitter late on Wednesday.

“C’mon @TennisAustralia surely we can do a pre @AustralianOpen exho to raise funds for those affected by the fires?,” he said.

Kyrgios had immediate support from fellow Australia player John Millman, who replied on Twitter with “Great shout that”.

Tennis Australia appear to have taken the idea on board, also tweeting: “Stay tuned for an announcement soon @NickKyrgios. Great to have your support.”

Many of the game’s headline acts, including world No.1 Rafael Nadal, are in Australia to play in the newly-minted ATP Cup and to prepare for this month’s Australian Open.

Last year Kyrgios, Millman, Nadal and Milos Raonic played an exhibition match in Sydney in a Team Australia vs Team World Fast4 format.
