CAS aims for April verdict on bin Hammam

The Court of Arbitration for Sport aims to give a verdict in April on Mohamed bin Hammam’s appeal to overturn his life ban from football over bribery allegations.

Bin Hammam will challenge FIFA’s ruling to expel him at CAS on April 18-19.

The court says “the parties have requested a final decision … as soon as possible.”

The Asian Football Confederation is legally obliged to elect a new president replacing bin Hammam if his case is not resolved by May 29.

CAS says its judging panel “has not excluded the possibility to deliver a decision without grounds” later in April.

Bin Hammam denies that he attempted to bribe Caribbean voters during his later-abandoned election challenge to FIFA President Sepp Blatter.
