Bookie to pay Pearson, Rowe & Harradine fines

Online bookmaker sportsbet has channelled its inner patriotism on the eve of the Commonwealth Games, pledging to pay any fines handed down to Sally Pearson, Alex Rowe and Benn Harradine by Athletics Australia.

Upon Rowe already being punished and the likelihood that Pearson and Harradine facing a similar fate for missing a training camp due to competition, Sportsbet has offered to pay the $1,300 each athlete is due to be fined.

“It’s not like they were just sitting at home on the couch and that’s why they missed the camp. We are all about our athletes dominating on the world stage and if us picking up the bill means they are more focused on winning, we are happy to do it,” said sportsbet.com.au’s Shaun Anderson.

Despite any distractions, Pearson remains the red hot favourite to win gold in the 100 metre hurdles, priced at $1.44 v the rest of the field.
