Preview:

There is one man that could dictate the Sydney Thunder’s success in this tournament and that man is Usman Khawaja. Khawaja hasn’t played a full Big Bash competition since he led the Thunder to the title in 2015/2016, but with his time in the national team coming to a close, he will have the chance to dominate the competition once again. He will be ably supported by the likes of Callum Ferguson and Alex Hales, which does give the Thunder the ability to produce some very high scores. They lack a bowling leader and if their batting doesn’t fire it is tough to see them winning many games. I don’t expect the Thunder to make the finals, but it wouldn’t shock to see them pull off a few upsets along the way.
