The Stars have nothing left to play for at this point, but they’d love nothing more than to put a serious dent in Sydney’s finals chances on Wednesday night.

Sitting fifth at time of publish, the Thunder basically need to win out if they hold any hope of sneaking in.

Another loss to the Sixers in Saturday’s derby has made it tough, and this does shape as a potential trap game for punters after the Thunder won by only one wicket when these two sides met to start the season.

The Stars have lost back-to-back games to the Heat leading in, but they did pull off a nine-wicket upset over Adelaide – a team with similar finals aspirations – only two weeks ago.

Given Sydney’s 2-3 record away from home this year, I think the Stars are a good value bet straight-up.
