Backing up just 24 hours later, Jono Wells (73 off 49) and Henry Thornton (4/26) engineered the defeat of the Stars. Wells (382 runs at 31.83) sits fifth on the BBL’s run charts, with teammate Matthew Short (359 off 29.91) just two spots behind. Khan’s BBL|11 stint has come to an end.

The Sixers have bounced back from consecutive losses to the Scorchers with victories over the Renegades (45 runs) and Thunder (60 runs) in the past week. Moises Henriques (49 off 35) top-scored against the ’Gades, who were subsequently torn apart by Ben Dwarshuis (5/26). Daniel Hughes (66 off 48), Josh Philippe (57 off 35) and Henriques (47* off 27) combined to lead the Sixers to 5/197 in Saturday’s Sydney Smash. The returning Steve O’Keefe (4/18) and Dwarshuis (2/23) ensured the Thunder’s run-chase was always behind the eight-ball.

Lining up for their fourth game in six days, it shapes as a big ask for the $2.40 underdog Strikers. The Sixers, with Henriques and Philippe rediscovering their early-season form and O’Keefe back on deck, should be too strong as they warm up for a tilt at a third straight title.
