Warriors utility Pita Godinet is heading from the NRL to the English Super League to join Wakefield Trinity.
Godinet, who represented Samoa in this year’s Rugby League World Cup, has signed a two-year deal with the Yorkshire club after being released by the Warriors, the Wakefield Express reports.
Coach Richard Agar says Godinet would add depth at halfback for the Wildcats, while also providing cover at hooker.
“He is a skilful player and I think he will make a big impact,” Agar said.
“Halfbacks are at a premium and it is a difficult time of the season to try and sign new players so I am delighted we have signed him.”
Christchurch-born Godinet, who turns 26 on Saturday, scored a try on his NRL debut off the bench in the Warriors’ 48-16 away win over South Sydney in July 2011.
He has 18 first-grade appearances, including 10 this year which were all in the first half of the season.
