Horse Racing: Watch – No Diggity romps home at Caulfield

Punters kicked the midweek summer raceday at Caulfield off in positive fashion with highly fancied No Diggity making it two wins from two starts in the Vale Rick Hore-Lacy Handicap (1200m).

Starting the $1.24 favourite, the Anthony and Sam Freedman-trained filly by Sebring won comfortably by 2-1/4 lengths over the Mike Moroney-trained Toronto Terrier ($12) and the Aaron Laing-trained New York Scandal ($9.50) half-a-head away in third.

Jockey Craig Newitt is confident that 1100 metres and now 1200 metres, that No Diggity could stretch out further to 1400 metres and the mile.

“She’s a lovely filly,” Newitt said.

“Today with the winkers going on she came up underneath me today and albeit was a small field she’s got better things in store.

“I knew Concentric (unplaced) pretty well as I’ve done a bit of work on him, and he looks like he is going to want further so when he was on the outside of me I knew that I was going to be able to drop him off and the other couple in behind us weren’t in the picture.

“She had a good look when she was clear and I eased her down so she is going to win a lot better races.”While no specific targets have been set, there’s no Group 1 ambitions at this point in time and instead pinch-hitting stakes level options over the longer distances towards the end of Sydney Autumn Carnival.
