Down in Sydney, wet weather forced the abandonment of Wednesday’s Warwick Farm card and also threatens to wreak havoc with Saturday’s Randwick Guineas (Race 7) meeting.

At the time of writing, the track is rated a Heavy 9 but with further showers predicted, the meeting is far from certain to go ahead as scheduled.
With six of the first seven placegetters out of the Hobartville also engaged here, it will be fascinating to see if early favourite Comin’ Through can find a length on Man From Uncle having appeared to have had every opportunity to get past him at Rosehill.
Comin’ Through did peak third-up over a mile in the spring with a surging win in the Carbine Club Stakes on Derby Day but we’ve made a bit of mileage out of him lately and are happy enough to take him on again this week.
A bog track would certainly play right into the hands of Kristen Buchanan’s Echo Effect, who did everything but win the Hobartville and is unbeaten in two starts on heavy surfaces.
A similar scenario awaits Godolphin colt Malaise, who battled on into second place behind Hey Doc in the CS Hayes and is another horse who has proven himself capable in trying conditions.
With trainer John O’Shea admitting he had one eye on the skies in electing to bring the horse north, punters may be encouraged by those sentiments and we’ve already seen some each-way interest in him at a juicy price.
