Pierro wins 2012 Sires Produce Stakes

Gai Waterhouse trained Pierro has won today’s Group 1 Sires Produce Stakes ahead of the odds on favourite All Too Hard and Darley owned Limes. Pierro won the Golden Slipper Stakes last weekend and has continued his unbeaten record with another Group 1 win.

Pierro has now taking his record to five wins from five races and has stamped himself as the best 2YO in the country after beating Samaready last start in the Golden Slipper and now beating boom colt All Too Hard by lengths.

All Too Hard was slow to begin and perhaps lost a length or so at the start which is he’s normal racing pattern, he settled at the tail and was brought to the outside by jockey Dwayne Dunn but the turn of foot Pierro showed heading into the straight was too good and never looked like he would beat the son of More Than Ready.

Nash Rawiller settled Pierro who jumped second favourite mid field by himself and asked the 2YO colt to quicken heading into the straight he took a few strides to pick-up the leader and stablemate Raceway but hit the line very strongly to win very impressively.

Darley owned Limes ran a career best race and finished a close third behind Patinack Farm owned All Too Hard, both horses bumbed each other in the straight which helped Pierro but wasnt enough to call either unlucky. Pierro won on merit and should be named the best 2YO Colt in Australia.
