Ole Dancer set for Caulfield return in 2026 Weekend Hussler Stakes

Caulfield has typically been a successful venue for Ole Dancer, and her training duo, Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman, are expressing confidence that the four-year-old mare will recapture winning form this Saturday.

It was just shy of twelve months ago that the daughter of the acclaimed sire Ole Kirk triumphed in the Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield. While her performances have varied since then, the stable is optimistic she can make her presence felt once more in the Listed Weekend Hussler Stakes (1400m).

“I am really looking forward to seeing her back at that trip,” Coleman conveyed.

“With a few runs under her belt, I think we can see (her best) and she loves the Caulfield track. She is definitely and is looking for that 1400-metres.”

Ole Dancer’s last start resulted in a seventh-place finish in the Listed How Now Stakes (1200m) on September 19. While this outing broke her flawless Caulfield record of two wins from as many starts at the track, a comparison can be made to the 2021 Weekend Hussler Stakes winner Kahma Lass, who also finished similarly in the same pre-race event.

Blake Shinn is booked to ride Ole Dancer. Shinn has a strong record at Caulfield, including winning this particular race in 2024. His other rides for the day include the strong chance Blind Raise in the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m), Evaporate for the Hayes brothers in the Group 1 Toorak Handicap (1600m), and he will again partner the 2024 Melbourne Cup winner Knight’s Choice in the Group 2 Herbert Power Stakes (2400m).
