Canterbury Classic 2014: Cahill set to ride Adebisi in Sydney

Top Brisbane jockey Michael Cahill is set to ride speedster Adebisi in Sydney’s Canterbury Classic after the pair combined for a sizzling exhibition gallop on Wednesday.

Adebisi, was wearing blinkers, when he flew over 600m at Eagle Farm in the slick time of 33.1sec and 22.12 for the last 400m.

“He went really well in the blinkers. At this stage I will ride him in the Classic,” he said.

Trainer Desleigh Forster pinpointed the $100,000 Canterbury Classic (1100m) on Friday week, after the gelding was scratched from the Bat Out of Hell on the Gold Coast.

“Adebisi went well in the gallop and his coat looks very good. We will go to Sydney on Wednesday and I will be disappointed if he doesn’t race well in Sydney,” Forster said.

Forster looks set to leave blinkers on Adebisi for the Classic.

She bought Adebisi’s half brother by Captain Sonador for $40,000 at last week’s Magic Millions sale.
