SA’s Cooper falls short of ton v Victoria

South Australian batsman Tom Cooper fell just short of a century as Victoria pushed for a win on Sunday in the Sheffield Shield match in Adelaide.

Chasing 445 to win, the Redbacks were 5-212 at lunch on the final day, with Cooper dismissed for 93.

The right-hander offered a leading edge to provide spinner Jon Holland a caught and bowled.

Cooper earlier put on 132 runs for the fourth wicket with Callum Ferguson (79), whose innings was ended by a stunning Cameron White slips catch.

The Victorian captain, diving to his right, was at full-stretch and horizontal when he plucked a one-handed catch from Will Sheridan’s bowling to get rid of Ferguson.

SA’s hopes of saving the match rest largely with not out batsmen Travis Head (21) and Adam Crosthwaite (one).
