India won the toss and sent Australia in to bat in Sunday’s opening tri series ODI cricket match at the MCG.

Australia announced earlier on Sunday that paceman Brett Lee is out of the series with a broken toe suffered in Friday night’s Twenty20 loss to India.

The weather is hot and windy in Melbourne, with the forecast of rain later in the afternoon as a change comes through.

Australia included Matthew Wade and Dan Christian for their one-day international debuts while surprise squad selection Peter Forrest was named 12th man.

India made one change to Friday night’s victorious team, resting opener Virender Sehwag.

Sachin Tendulkar will open in his place with Gautam Gambhir, while Manoj Tiwary is 12th man.
