Parramatta’s breakthrough win last weekend has been soured by a savage injury blow as they prepare to host a Canberra side coming off one of the great escapes.

The Eels chalked up their first victory under rookie coach Jason Ryles in memorable fashion, overturning a 12-point deficit and winning in golden point on Zac Lomax’s boot.
But the star recruit has subsequently been ruled out for six weeks in a massive setback.

Lomax was named on the wing on Tuesday night, with a replacement yet to be revealed.

The Raiders were at a crucial 2-2 juncture after consecutive losses on the road to Manly and North Queensland, but they snatched a 24-20 win over Cronulla at home last Thursday.

Canberra won the teams’ lone encounters in 2023 (26-18) and 2024 (41-8), which were both at GIO Stadium.
Matt Timoko and Hudson Young both scored in both games.
The Eels won the only two clashes the clubs have played to date at CommBank Stadium.

The Eels will be buoyed by last week’s win – on the back of improved defensive showings in losses – but the Lomax loss is a big one.
The Raiders have been impressive overall in 2025 and should have too much firepower for the blue-and-golds.
