Preview:

Australia’s title defence is picking up momentum after a shaky start. The 2018 champs went down to India by 17 runs in the tournament opener, before edging unfancied Sri Lanka by five wickets with only three balls left.

But the hosts crushed Bangladesh by 86 runs on Thursday. Alyssa Healy (83 off 53) and Beth Mooney (81* off 58) were in scintillating touch as Australia put 1/189 on the board.

Megan Schutt (3/21) and Jess Janassen (2/17) helped restrict Bangladesh to 9/103.

Australia have a major injury concern, however, with superstar all-rounder Ellyse Perry in doubt.

New Zealand opened their campaign with a seven-wicket win over Sri Lanka, reaching the target of 128 with 14 balls to spare.

Despite the heroics of Amelia Kerr (2/21 and 34* off 19), the Kiwis lost a thriller to India by three runs. The winning and losing of that match came down to a rare top-order failure – including Sophie Devine’s astonishing run of six T20I fifties coming to an end.

But NZ were lucky to keep their knockout chances alive with a 17-run win over Bangladesh on Saturday.

They were skittled for just 91, losing their last eight wickets for a paltry 25 runs in the space of 30 balls. Fortunately, Hayley Jensen (3/11) and Leigh Kasperek (3/23) matched their opponents’ brilliant bowling performance to rout Bangladesh for 74.
