AFL star Dane Swan is determined to return in August from a serious foot injury.

Swan broke three bones in his right foot during round one, with some speculating the 2011 Brownlow medallist’s career could be over.

Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley says it’s likely Swan will struggle to play a part in the side’s 2016 campaign.

But Buckley says Swan is focused on returning in August, even if it means taking some risks in rehab.

“We’ll make sure we look after his welfare and give him every opportunity to achieve that goal,” Buckley said.
