Nadal reaches French Open final

Rafael Nadal moved one victory away from a record seventh French Open title by overwhelming sixth-seeded David Ferrer 6-2 6-2 6-1 on Friday to reach a fifth consecutive grand slam final.

The second-seeded Nadal even won a point in the second set despite slipping to the clay and hitting a shot while sitting on the court.

He hasn’t lost a set in the tournament this year.

Nadal and Bjorn Borg share the record of six French Open trophies.

Nadal is 51-1 at Roland Garros.

The only time he entered the tournament and didn’t win it was in 2009, when he lost in the fourth round to Robin Soderling.

The 26-year-old Spaniard also is bidding for an 11th career grand slam title, which would tie him for fourth most in tennis history.
