Wigan sign Fraser Fyvie from Aberdeen

Wigan have signed teenage midfielder Fraser Fyvie from Scottish club Aberdeen on a three-year contract.

The 19-year-old Fyvie was the youngest player to start a game for Aberdeen when he made his debut for the Scottish Premier League team at 16 in 2008.

Wigan didn’t disclose the fee it paid for the promising central midfielder, who is manager Roberto Martinez’s first signing of the offseason.

Martinez said: “I’m excited because we’re signing such a strong character and a great personality. He’s got a tremendous future in his hands.”

Fyvie also became the youngest goalscorer in the SPL when he netted for Aberdeen against Hearts in 2010.
