QPR appoints Hodges as head of coaching

QPR have appointed Glyn Hodges as head of coaching and coach education.

The 49-year-old is a former Welsh teammate of manager Mark Hughes, who he worked with on the coaching staff at Blackburn, Manchester City and Fulham.

Hodges will head up QPR’s revamped youth and development structure, which will see him work alongside Steve Gallen and Marc Bircham.

The former Barnsley caretaker manager will oversee the coaching structure at reserve and academy levels, working closely with technical director Mike Rigg.

“This is another key appointment for the club,” Rigg told the club’s official website, www.qpr.co.uk.

“We are building for the future, as well as the present at QPR, and Glyn’s arrival further strengthens what we are trying to achieve here.

“He is a vastly-experienced coach, who knows the manager and his backroom staff, so we are all delighted to have him on board.”
