Brumbies make multiple changes for Rebels

New Wallabies squad member Dan Palmer has been rested and Robbie Coleman given another chance at fullback for the Brumbies ahead of their Super Rugby clash with Melbourne Rebels on Friday.

Head coach Jake White has obviously been busy with his selections, with the Brumbies to field a vastly different line-up to the side that went down 13-12 to Queensland Reds last week to narrow their gap on top of the Australian conference.

Prop Palmer has been rested, forcing fellow Wallabies camper Ben Alexander to the other side of the scrum and Ruaidhri Murphy brought in at loosehead, while Coleman gets his first run-on start since returning from a groin injury almost two months ago.

He will start at fullback, pushing Jesse Mogg – one of eight Brumbies to make the Wallabies squad – to the wing at the expense of Henry Speight, who has been moved to the bench.

Just ahead of the three-week international break, White has also rested flanker Ita Vaea and Sam Carter along with Palmer, with Carter to be replaced in the second row by Leon Power.

Another noted change is the selection of flanker Colby Faingaa, who has been called to the bench for the first time this year after suffering an ankle injury in a pre-season trial match against the Reds.

Giant forward Fotu Auelua will also start in the reserves following his rest last week, as will Scott Sio.

Brumbies: Robbie Coleman, Jesse Mogg, Andrew Smith, Pat McCabe, Joe Tomane, Zack Holmes, Nic White, Ben Mowen, Michael Hooper, Peter Kimlin, Leon Power, Scott Fardy, Ben Alexander, Stephen Moore, Ruaidhri Murphy. Res: Anthony Hegarty, Scott Sio, Fotu Auelua, Colby Faingaa, Ian Prior, Henry Speight, Tevita Kuridrani.
