Leeds beat Wigan 39-28

The absence of New Zealand international fullback Brent Webb proved no obstacle to Leeds as his replacement Zak Hardaker scored a double to knock reigning champions Wigan out of English rugby league’s Challenge Cup 39-28.

In a repeat of last year’s final, the Rhinos made the faster start at Huddersfield and, despite the efforts of Sam Tomkins and former Newcastle Knight George Carmont, they held on to reach the Wembley final.

With Webb missing due to a medial ligament tear, it was Hardaker who showed his class in both attack and defence for the Rhinos.

Leeds will face either Huddersfield or Warrington in the Wembley showdown on August 25.
