2012 NRL Round 24 preview – Brisbane Broncos vs Melbourne Storm

Suncorp Stadium, Friday 17th August.

Round 24 of the NRL gets underway with the out-of-form Brisbane Broncos hosting the Melbourne Storm on Friday night. The Broncos are desperate for a win after recording their fourth successive loss last week against competition leaders, Canterbury 22-14.There were encouraging signs early as the Broncos raced to 14 points lead within the first 15 minutes but failed to build on that start or withstand Canterbury attack late in the game. The loss sees the Broncos seventh on the ladder on 26 points, equal with West Tigers and only one win in front of the Knights and Raiders.A further loss could see them outside of the eight at the completion of this round and with Manly waiting for them next week, it’s a must win game for the Brisbane side.Melbourne on the other hand sits second on the ladder after beating the Titans at home last week.It was a slow start for the Storm but four second half tries saw them register a 24-16 victory.Things won’t get any easier for the Broncos this week against a side they have only beaten once in their last six encounters. They’ll need to get off to a flyer if they are any chance to hold off the best attacking side in the competition but as they showed last week, they are team struggling to find confidence and you don’t want to be looking for it against Melbourne.

Melbourne – 4.5 @ $1.94

SPORTSBET HEAD TO HEAD – BRISBANE $2.45, STORM $1.57
