Pedrosa quickest at Indy MGP practice

Spain’s Dani Pedrosa posted the fastest practice lap on Friday at the Indianapolis Grand Prix.

The 2010 MotoGP race winner completed the 16-turn, 4.2km road course in one minute and 39.783 seconds. American Ben Spies, the 2010 pole-winner and race runner-up, was second at 1:40.078.

Casey Stoner, whose build-up to this weekend’s race has involved a war of words with seven-time world champion Valentino Rossi, was fifth fastest in practice.

World championship leader Jorge Lorenzo came in third fastest.

Qualifying is scheduled for Saturday. The race will be held on Sunday.

Rossi’s season-long struggles continued on Friday, finishing 10th on the speed charts with a time of 1:41.529.
