It’s not often that Bendigo hosts the premier victorian meeting on a Saturday but we see that this week where we see the feature Golden Mile. Weather is meant to be kind to Bendigo racecourse with no rain forecast at the end of this week and the showers that are meant to hit the area coming later on Saturday itself.
The card of racing features nine races all of which are big strong fields to complete the feature races of the day which are the VOBIS Gold Rush, Gold Bracelet the Golden Mile and the Bendigo Guineas.

Back Me: With the scratching of Landale today Muhaajir will now become my horse to back in the first race on Golden Mile today and looks very hard to beat.
Don’t Back Me: Coghills Creek had all of the favours at Moonee Valley last start and in a better race here i think he is worth the risk of leaving him out at his current quote.
Big Danger: The biggest danger would have to be Chile Express. Ive tipped him to win his last two starts but has been a bit disappointing but can certainly turn that form around.
Roughie: There looks to be some very good value in the way of Black Booty who won a strong country race last start beating a talented runner in the way of Tigerland.

Back Me:Unchain My Heart ran very well last start in a much classier race and i think he is the one to beat in a tough race on paper for punters.
Don’t Back Me:Suspended Gem won last start but it was on a heavy track. He wont get those conditions again on Saturday and i think he is under the odds.
Big Danger: A little disappointing last start, Angola can definitely turn that form around in this race and is a big danger.
Roughie: Rive Gauche looks a good roughie in the race. Glen Boss takes the ride which is a massive advantage and he may get an easy lead in front and give a good kick.

Race Three: Property Handicap 1000m Form Guide
Back Me: I dont think Zounite handled the straight race last start but still battled on well enough against a good field. His first start win was very impressive and will take some beating.
Don’t Back Me: Formidable goes up eight kilos from her last start which is a big increase and she can miss the jump. Happy to leave her out on Saturday.
Big Danger: Melting Pot won by six lengths on debut at Wangaratta and if he can replicate that performance he will be hard to beat.
Roughie: Starchine was unlucky last start and drops weight going into the race on Saturday. Glen Boss sticks with the ride and at $17 looks good value.

Back Me: Livigno looks a very good each way bet in this race. He has a class advantage over this field and if you look back two runs he was only 3.5L off We’re Gonna Rock and Spirit Of Boom.
Don’t Back Me: It’s hard to put a line through any runners but i think Planet Voyage is under the odds at $5 so im happy to leave him out at that price.
Big Danger: Felidea is a big danger here and first up can put in a big run.
Roughie: Ran very well last start against Ready To Rip but will have to overcome the top weight an a wide barrier but class often prevails.

Back Me: This is a very tough race to dissect although i thought Se Sauver on debut was very good after missing the start and only going down by a head to what looks to be a pretty smart horse.
Don’t Back Me: Not saying Ms Funovits cant win but in a big field at Bendigo from barrier 14 the $2.90 on offer looks a bit short to me.
Big Danger: Iconic won well last start and its hard not to back anything Craig Williams puts his leg over and at $9 looks a good chance at odds.
Roughie: Churchill Dancer wasn’t disgraced in a decent form race where he did everything wrong at $41 could be worth a small bet.

Race Six: Jeweller’s Gold Bracelet 1400m Form Guide
Back Me: Total Attraction’s run last start at Moonee Valley i thought was very good, she went back and made good ground late at a racecourse that makes it hard to win from back she will be much better suited on Saturday.
Don’t Back Me: Secret Liaison has won four of her last five starts which makes it hard to go against her although the increase in weight and and a tougher field makes me think she is under the odds.
Big Danger: Chateau Margaux hasn’t been seen since running the the Geelong Cup where she was impressive. She has a good first up record and has won at the distance. Looks the danger.
Roughie: Avionics drops 4.5kg heading into Saturday’s race and did it tough at her last run. Craig Willains on board will give her every chance at odds.

Race Seven: Yalumba Golden Mile 1600m Form Guide
Back Me: I’m going for some value in the feature race in the way of New York who’s run i thought was very promising last start behind Dany The Fox. Got back and was held up before making ground. The $14 available looks a great bet.
Don’t Back Me: Folding Gear won well first up and drops weight on Saturday although having won none of his second up races from four attempts im happy to say he wont win.
Big Danger: Wall Street is all class and he races against a much easier field on Saturday but will have to carry 60kg in doing so but despite that he will be very hard to beat.
Roughie: Zabisco was slow away last start before getting too far back in a race that Budriguez won which has gone on to frank that form. Glen Boss rides and looks a great each way bet.

Race Eight: Bendigo Guineas 1400m Form Guide
Back Me: The Bendigo Guineas sees a big field thus i think a good barrier draw will be major factor. Adjuster has drawn in and should get the run of the race behind the leaders on the rail. Drops 3kg on last run and at $17 you can back him each way with confidence.
Don’t Back Me: Ninth Legion won at Sandown at his first Victorian start only just and draws barrier 15 which will likely post him wide with his running pattern. Has the class but it will take a lot for him to win in my opinion.
Big Danger: Lonrockstar won a strong race last start and is likely to go back from barrier 12 and will be the horse running over the top of them in a race that the pace should be on.
Roughie: Snip The Dancer was beaten just over 4L by the Newmarket Handicap winner Shamexpress and has gone close in every race since. He poses a good bet at double figure odds.

Race Nine: Southern Cross Austereo Handicap 1300m Form Guide
Back Me: In what looks a very tough for punters i have gone with Clanga’s Glory who’s run at Sandown last start was very good behind the current Bendigo Guineas favourite. Will jump at good odds and could be the fill up or get out horse we will be looking for.
Don’t Back Me: Arguably one of the classiest horses in the race Le Bonsir will not have his own way with 59.5kg and a wide barrier. Im happy to leave him out.
Big Danger: General Offer will get a good run during the race camped behind the leaders and should be first to challenge. Whether he can hold on those coming from behind will be determined by the speed of the race.
Roughie: Red Rain has drawn barrier 16 although if he was drawn better id have him on top so i think at the current odds of $13 he is worth a bet.

Best Bet: On a tough betting day for punters Total Attraction looks to be the best bet of the day and is currently $6.50 with Sportsbet which looks to be great value and unlikely to last.
Next Best: Going with the two year olds to give us a good winning chance and i think Se Sauver can beat the favourite on Saturday at current odds of $3.20.
Best Roughie: The best roughie of the day comes up in the Golden Mile in the way of New York who is currently a $14 chance.
