Glamour filly Atlantic Jewel has come through her hardest assignment so far, making it seven wins from as many starts in the Group One All Aged Stakes at Randwick.
Given a genuine fright by Rain Affair, Atlantic Jewel had to call on all of her reserves to claim the weight-for-age sprint.
Jockey Michael Rodd said the filly had to be ridden in a forward position to maintain her winning streak.
“I definitely would never ride her like that again,” Rodd said of the long odds-on favourite.
“She’s a get back and run on horse.
“This was her stiffest test so far because she’s never been up against such seasoned horses before.”
Rain Affair took up his customary front-running role and he stole a four-length lead around the turn.
He maintained his advantage well into the straight only for Atlantic Jewel to gain the upper hand late.
Ofcourseican finished third.
