Harris not on SA cricket contract list

The first-class cricket careers of batsmen Daniel Harris and Aiden Blizzard appear over, with both not offered contracts by South Australia.

Former Victorian Blizzard and 32-year-old Harris were joined by Cameron Borgas, Aaron O’Brien and ex-West Australian Theo Doropoulos in not being offered contracts by the Redbacks for this summer.

SA’s 16-man list of contracted players included South African Johan Botha, who replaced Michael Klinger as captain, and former NSW opener Phil Hughes.

Allrounder Dan Christian and middle order bat Callum Ferguson remained in SA despite speculation they received offers to join other states.

“Ferguson and Christian were totally committed to staying with the Redbacks, which is a great reflection on the cricket culture we are developing here,” SA’s director of cricket Jamie Cox said in a statement on Friday.

SA contracted players list:

Johan Botha (capt), Cullen Bailey, Dan Christian, Tom Cooper, Callum Ferguson, Peter George, Jake Haberfield, Phil Hughes, Michael Klinger, Tim Ludeman, Nathan Lyon (Cricket Australia contract), Joe Mennie, Gary Putland, Kane Richardson, Chad Sayers, James Smith.
