Home final still not certain: Swans coach

Sydney coach John Longmire showed on Friday why he is perhaps the most skilled pilot in the AFL when it comes to flying under the radar.

The Swans top the ladder and their place in the AFL finals is guaranteed.

However the prospect of slumping to seventh on the ladder and missing out on a home final is still a mathematical chance for Longmire.

So, ahead of Saturday’s blockbuster ANZ Stadium clash with Collingwood, the second-year coach turned spruiker in his own unique way when the prospect of playing at the same venue in September was raised.

“We deal in the facts – and the facts are, at the moment, talking about finals is irrelevant,” Longmire said.

“We’re hoping our supporters get out to ANZ Stadium and are able to see us play footy for what may be the last time in Sydney (this year). Who knows?

“We play at the SCG in a couple of weeks, but that’s a sellout.

“So if you don’t have a ticket to the Hawthorn game, get out to ANZ Stadium tomorrow night.”
