Greater Western Sydney have re-signed eight of their young guns, headlined by leading AFL Rising Star contender Jeremy Cameron.
GWS announced the re-signings of Cameron, Toby Greene, Stephen Coniglio, Adam Treloar, Devon Smith, Jacob Townsend, Tim Mohr and Tim Golds on Thursday.
The orange-clad octet are tied to the club for the next three seasons, joining the likes of Dylan Shiel and Tomas Bugg.
“This is a tremendous show of faith in the Giants and will help set the club up for long-term, on-field success,” GWS chief executive David Matthews said.
Matthews said the players’ commitment, coupled with Kevin Sheedy’s re-appointment as coach earlier this week, would make all the difference next season.
“These announcements give us not only stability but a real sense of optimism and excitement as we head into 2013 and what will be an important year for the Giants,” Matthews said.
Cameron, Greene, Coniglio, Treloar and Smith are five of the club’s record seven Rising Star nominees.
Cameron has kicked 29 goals this season despite limited supply, however Adelaide defender Daniel Talia is considered favourite to win the Rising Star award.
Greene, who is ineligible for the youth award due to a one-match suspension, has averaged more than 27 possessions in his 18 games.
