Former AFL star Jason Akermanis has been fined $700 for causing a traffic crash on the Sunshine Coast.

The 35-year-old did not appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Thursday.

However, through his lawyer he pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention, and failing to comply with the duties of a driver in a crash and give particulars to another driver.

His fine was referred to the State Penalties Enforcement Registry to arrange payment.

The charges related to a traffic accident at Mooloolaba on the Sunshine Coast on Boxing Day last year.
