Hurricanes hooker Dane Coles has been cleared of serious injury after being forced from the field in Friday’s 29-28 Super Rugby win over the Crusaders in Wellington.
Coles was replaced in the 42nd minute after injuring his left ankle, with an x-ray on Saturday coming back clear.
Replacement hooker Motu Matu’u was also forced from the field with two minutes remaining after receiving a knock to his shoulder.
Hurricanes coach Mark Hammett said the pair will be monitored over the next 48 hours before any decision is made on their availability for training and next Friday’s game against the Highlanders in Dunedin.
“It was a physical game last night and after the intensity of that second half, there’ll be a few sore bodies today,” Hammett said.
“The medical team will monitor both Dane and Motu over the next couple of days and should be in a better position on Monday to determine the seriousness of the knocks.”
