The latest instalment of this fierce NFC North rivalry shapes as a pivotal one for the 5-4 Chicago Bears and 3-5 Minnesota Vikings.

The Bears were mounting a decent case for a run at the post-season until losing their last three to the Rams, Saints and Titans. The Bears’ offence continues to struggle, with Nick Foles in the gun at quarterback as Mitch Trubisky continues to nurse a shoulder injury.

The Vikings won only one of their first six but have been heartened by back-to-back wins over the Packers (28-22) and Lions (34-20) since their bye. Dalvin Cook rushed for a whopping 369 yards and 5 TDs across the two victories, the superstar running back taking the pressure of shot-caller Kirk Cousins.

After losing six of the previous seven between the sides, the Bears are on a four-match winning streak against the Vikings. Last season Chicago prevailed 16-6 at home and 21-19 in Minneapolis. Only one of the teams’ last six games produced more than 40 points.

The adversaries’ contrasting form reversals sees the Vikes head in as favourites on the road. It’s hard to argue with that assessment.
