Shoot Out wins Chipping Norton Stakes 2013

Shoot Out has made it back-to-back Chipping Norton Stakes wins with a last-stride victory at Warwick Farm on Saturday.

Coming from a seemingly impossible position, Shoot Out reached the front in the closing stages to claim his fifth Group One race.

In the process, he smashed through the $3 million prize money barrier.

Shoot Out was under hard riding well back in the ruck as the field swung for home before jockey Hugh Bowman brought the six-year-old with a late surge.

Monton, hailed the winner after he reached the front at the 200m, went down fighting to finish second with Shoot Out’s stablemate Danleigh taking the minor placing.

Trainer Chris Waller said Shoot Out was on target to run in the $2 million Doncaster Mile next month.

“If More Joyous doesn’t run, I think he is the best weighted horse in the race,” Waller said.
