The Makybe Diva Stakes is a Group 2 horse race held at Flemington Racecourse in Melbourne. Formely known as the Craiglee Stakes, this weight for age event is run over 1600 metres.
Taking place on Saturday the 8th of September, the 2012 Makybe Diva Stakes is worth $300,000 in prize money. While the name may be new, this race has a long and rich history in Melbourne Spring racing.

The Makybe Diva Stakes suits both sprinters and stayers, with Flemington’s long straight playing a big role in the race. Some of the horses in this race may decide to head to the Group 1 Underwood Stakes at Caulfield Racecourse, while others may tackle the Group 1 Turnbull Stakes at Flemington in October.
A number of quality horses have won the Makybe Diva Stakes throughout the years, with the historical Craiglee Stakes being a Principal race until 1978 and a Group race ever since. Some of the more well known winners include early victors Comic Court in 1949, Light Fingers in 1965, and Rain Lover who also won the Melbourne Cup in 1969.
Northerly won the Craiglee Stakes in 2002, following it up with wins in the Turnbull Stakes, Caulfield Cup, and WS Cox Plate in the same year. Littoria won the 2011 edition of the race, followed by Glass Harmonium in second and Midas Touch not far behind in third place.
