Golden Slipper Day takes place this Saturday, the 6th of April, 2013. While entries for the two big name races have already been released, nominations for the support events have just been announced. The George Ryder Stakes is one of the more high profile support races on the day, with star colt Pierro lining up to tackle the $400,000 event. The Gai Waterhouse trained horse will be looking to add to his unbeaten record of 10, although there is lots of quality in the field.

The Queen of the Turf Stakes is another high profile support race on Golden Slipper Day, with some of the best fillies and mares in the country battling it out over 1500 metres. The most high profile nomination for this race is More Joyous, another Waterhouse trained horse who will be trying to win the race for the third consecutive year, something that has not been done in the races 40 year history.

One of the other support races on the day is the Group 1 Vinery Stakes, with some of the likely suspects including New Zealand filly Habibi, Dear Demi, Norzita, and Cameo. All of these horses have come from good results in other races, with Norzita managing to take out the Flight Stakes and Dear Demi winning the VRC Oaks.
