Golden Slipper day 2012 Fields released

Golden Slipper day is only three sleeps away which see’s the running of five Group 1 races including the Golden Slipper Stakes itself, The BMW, Vinery Stud Stakes, George Ryder Stakes and the Queen Of The Turf Stakes. Arguably the biggest and best raceday of the year in Sydney. We take a look at the fields for each of these races.

Race 1: The Schweppervescence Field

Race one on the card is for the 2YO’s over 1400m. 15 horses have accepted for the race which looks a very competitive field on paper.

Last years winner: Do You Think

More Joyous winning the 2011 Queen Of The Turf Stakes

Race 2: Sebring Stakes Field

The second race on Golden Slipper day is the Sebring Stakes, last year this race was the last race on the card but will be run much earlier in 2012. Again the field looks very competitive with Mic Mac and Pinwheel heading the entries of which 14 horses have accepted.
Last years winner: Swift Alliance
The Vinery Stud Stakes will be run one race earlier this year thus it is the first of the Group 1 races on Slipper day. This years race is quite small but the quality is certainly there. It looks a match race between Mosheen and Streama.
Last years winner: Mirjulisa Lass
The Group 2 Tulloch Stakes is over 2000m for 3YO’s again it looks a very competitive field although i would be very surprised if Rekindled Alliance doesn’t open as the favourite even after drawing barrier 11.
Last years winner: Fast Clip
Race 5: The BMW Field
The second of the Group 1 races on Golden Slipper day is The BMW over 2400m. Melbourne Cup winner Americain has opened as the $2 favourite for the race and looks very hard to beat although in the past The BMW usually throws up a rough result for punters.
Last years winner: Cedarberg
The third Group 1 of the day and the lead up race to the Golden Slipper is the Queen Of The Turf Stakes for 3YO+ fillies and mares. More Joyous heads the field of entrants this year and will be looking to make it back to back victories in the race
Last years winner: More Joyous
The feature race of the day is the Golden Slipper for 2YO’s over 1200m. The Golden Slipper is the richest 2YO race in the world. This years market is dominated by Samaready who will be looking to win the Blue Diamond Stakes and the Golden Slipper like last years winner Sepoy.
 Last years winner: Sepoy
The last of the Group 1 races on the day is the George Ryder Stakes over 1500m. This years edition is packed full of Group 1 winners and it looks to be a very competitive race with more than half the field being winning chances.
 Last years winner: Rangirangdoo
The last race of the day is the Group 3 HKJC Stakes formally known as the Queen’s Cup over 2000m. This years race doesnt have any stand out runners but looks very competitive with most of the field on their day being able to win the race.
Last years winner: Syreon
