Glencadam Gold has tough task in Caulfield Cup 2012

Glencadam Gold is an easing favourite for Saturday’s Caulfield Cup after drawing a wide barrier for the 2400m feature.

The Gai Waterhouse-trained European import was eased from $3.70 to $4 by the TAB after coming up with barrier 21 in the draw which included the 18-horse field plus the four emergencies.

December Draw (barrier 12) is the second favourite at $7 with last year’s Melbourne Cup winner Dunaden at $7.50.

Defending Caulfield Cup title holder Southern Speed is a $17 chance this year.

Glencadam Gold, who will be ridden by Jimmy Cassidy, was promoted to Caulfield Cup favouritism after his win in the Group One Metropolitan at Randwick earlier this month.

He is unbeaten in four Australian starts.
