Coolmore Classic 2013 won by Appearance

The Guy Walter-trained Appearance has added another Group One victory to her record with a nail-biting win in the $600,000 Coolmore Classic at Rosehill.

In a desperate three-way finish, Appearance arrived in the last stride under jockey Blake Shinn to beat Red Tracer.

Norzita was the first of the three-year-olds to finish when she took the minor placing.

Owned by breeding giant Darley, Appearance took out the Group One Myer Classic during the Melbourne spring carnival and Walter believes she is a mare who now deserves to be reckoned with.

“This is an underrated mate,” Walter said.

“She’s only had 12 starts and she’s won two Group Ones … she’s an outstanding mare.”

Shinn said Appearance travelled kindly just off the speed before he produced her for a winning charge.

“She had a great run throughout but from the 300 (metres) she really lifted for me,” he said.
