Race two on the Caulfield Card is dominated by the Gerald Ryan trained Snitzerland – who is looking to make it four wins on the trot and six from nine overall.

1. SIZZLING
QLD’s leading 2yo from last season travels south to make his 3yo return. Undefeated last prep from four starts including victories in the G2 Sire’s Produce and held the well performed Kabayan off to win the G1 TJ Smith by a nose (1600m).
Odds: $4.20
2. BOBAN
Colt by Bernadini from the Anthony Freedman yard who has won two from six starts as a 2yo including an impressive victory in the Listed The Phoenix over the Brisbane Winter Carnival. Returns to racing here but with no public trial to gauge him on, his wide draw and that a slightly longer journey probably suits, happy to watch him go around here.
Odds: $31.00
3. FIRE THUNDERBOLT
A gelding from the very much in-form Phillip Stokes yard who made his debut with a convincing 2 ¼ win at Morphetville before coming across to Victoria to claim the Listed Streets Stakes by 3. A smart type who should be prominent throughout here.
Odds: $19.00
4. MAURY
Resumed in the Listed McKenzie (1200m) but folded late after leading to finish ninth of ten. Better at his next start when fourth (beaten 4.5) behind Snitzerland in the G2 Danehill Stakes but was safely held again at his most recent start, a Caulfield Open (1000m) when beaten 8.2 lengths. Mixing his form too much be to considered here.
Odds: $151.00
5. LANKAN RUPEE
Won a Cranbourne Maiden on debut and back that up with a win here at Caulfield three weeks ago, where he led and extended nicely to account for Magnier (since won in good style) by 2 1/4. From his inside draw, should be able to lead and be prominent again – and hard to beat.
Odds: $5.50
6. EXIMUS
A gelding by Exceed and Excel who won on debut in March before being turned out for a spell. Returned with a well beaten fourth (5.9 lengths – under 60kg) before a much better effort last start where, after being ridden on the speed, stuck on well for a third behind Daytona Grey.
Odds: $61.00
7. GENERALAFIE
Darley runner who has had five runs to date, two of them this prep with a big five length win at Bendigo in a RST 68 before an eye-catching effort beyond Daytona Grey. Gets back so might need some luck from the inside draw but will be sure to finishing hard.
Odds: $8.50
8. GOLD RORY
Mark Riley runner who was very good on debut, winning a RST 72 event and then led at his most recent start in an Open Class race at the Valley and only gathered inside the last 100m, finishing sixth (beaten 2.5) behind Daytona Grey
Odds: $19.00
9. LASHED OUT
Well bred Exceed and Excel colt out of Group winning Encosta De Lago mare, Lashed who has only had the one run so far and that was a third in a Wangaratta Maiden as short priced favourite. It’s a big step up from that race to here.
Odds: $301.00
10. SNITZERLAND
Unbeaten this prep after registering victories in the G3 San Domenico, G2 Danehill Stakes and her most recent start, the G3 Champagne at Moonee Valley a fortnight ago. Impossible to knock her form and from her good draw, Brown will have the option of leading or if need be, taking a sit.
Odds: $1.90
OVERVIEW
Should be very good speed in this race with Lankan Rupee, Snitzerland and Gold Rory all pushing forward. It’ll be interesting to see who wins the battle early – either way, Snitzerland and Lankan Rupee should be on the pace and are the leading chances. Lankan Rupee was very strong last start and could be further improved for the run and experience. Snitzerland’s record speaks for itself, she’s yet to put in a bad effort from eight career starts and don’t think she will here. Fire Thunderbolt and Generalafie might be two to throw in any multiples.
