Moonee Valley Race 6 – Moir Stakes
The Queenslander Buffering ($2.50) is the one to beat. He’s proven at the top level, has raced well at the Valley and has an excellent first up record. He looks primed to become the number one sprinter. Atomic Force ($9.00) was disappointing last start but better suited at 1200m and back at the Valley expect him to be competitive. Tiger Tees ($4.00) is a very smart sprinter and can measure up at this level on the back of a convincing win in the Concorde. He should sit outside Buffering n the run. Thankgodyou’rehere ($10.00) is also worth consideration, had a significant stable change, and worked nicely earlier in the week at the Valley.

Moonee Valley Race 7 – Stutt Stakes
All eyes on the newest pin-up star of racing, Pierro ($1.15). He’s clearly the one to beat here on a likely path to the Cox Plate, so punters can find more value by investing in the Extra Markets (favourite out), where the South Australian Jimando is the new favourite ($2.40) on the strength of his very nice win at Flemington and the rise to the mile should be ideal. Mick Kent trained Philippi ($2.60) is also unbeaten and performed well at the Valley last time defeating Carringbush Jack ($13.00).
Rosehill Race 6 – Colin Stephen Quality
Early races look to be dominated by favourites, with More Joyous in Race 3, Albrecht and Kabayan in the Stan Fox Race 4, and Fat Al in Race 5 – again punters can get better value by looking at the Extra Markets with Favourites Out.
Back to the Colin Stephen (race 6) where Strawberry Boy ($1.80) deserves short price but there may be some doubt about him running a strong 2400m given they’ve not pressed on with Caulfield Cup preparation so perhaps he’s nearing a spell. Kelinni ($4.00) was beaten in the Wyong Cup after a touch run and he could turn the tables on the winner of that race Julienas ($3.80), who is a definite chance and seems to improve at every start.
Caulfield Race 6 – Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes
Great edition of this race, with good speed expected from Mr Make Believe and Moment of Change expected leaders and Pinwheel, Glass Harmonium and Instinction not far away. Top pick, Moment Of Change ($3.60), looks beautifully placed on the minimum weight. He’s always shown group one potential and as long as he crosses from the barrier without too much trouble will be in the finish. We’re Gonna Rock ($5.50) has been a revelation, won well at Flemington first up and fitter now. Smokin’ Joey ($15.00) appears good value and can race well with Craig Newitt aboard. That’s The One ($13.00) has always shown promise, probably better suited on a bigger track but worth including in the exotics.
