Victoria extend lead over SA in Shield

Victoria extended their lead against South Australia to 80 runs by lunch on Saturday’s third day of the Sheffield Shield match in Adelaide.

The Bushrangers were 0-28 in their second innings with Chris Rogers not out 23 and Rob Quiney on three.

The Victorians earlier banked innings points by bowling SA out for 267, some 52 runs behind the Bushrangers’ first innings total of 319.

SA’s innings featured 120 from Phil Hughes but the in-form lefthander received scant support, with the next highest score 28 by paceman Joe Mennie.

Victorian quick Will Sheridan was the chief destroyer with 4-49 from 19 overs.

Test speedster James Pattinson, in his comeback from a two-month absence due to a side injury, claimed 2-36 and John Hastings took 2-44.
