Vics chasing 168 to beat Warriors

Victoria are chasing 168 to win their Sheffield Shield clash with Western Australia at the MCG after bowling the Warriors out for 138 in their second innings on Saturday’s third day of play.

Western Australia had resumed on 5-76 after claiming a first-innings lead of 29 by dismissing the Bushrangers for 219.

Victoria’s Test quick James Pattinson took two of the five Warriors’ wickets to fall in the morning session and claimed 4-42 while Clint McKay (3-52) and Jayde Herrick (3-23) finished with three wickets each.

Tailender Mitchell Johnson was unbeaten on 40 from 32 deliveries, hitting five fours in an audacious knock on a pitch still offering assistance to the seam bowlers.

Pattinson struck in the second over of the day when Adam Voges (11) was caught behind and in his next over the 22-year-old burst through the defences of Tom Triffitt (26) who was bowled with the score on 7-93.

McKay picked up his third wicket of the innings as Michael Beer was caught behind and Herrick removed Jason Behrendorff and Michael Hogan in successive deliveries.
