Aussies to bat first against India

Captain Michael Clarke has chosen to bat first in sunny conditions on day two of the third cricket Test between Australia and India in Mohali on Friday.

Rain meant no play was possible on day one with India leading the four-match series two-nil.

Australia have made four changes to their lineup with injured wicketkeeper Matthew Wade (ankle) has been replaced by Brad Haddin who arrived in India on Monday as a standby player.

Vice-captain Shane Watson and pace bowler James Pattinson had already been omitted for disciplinary reasons after failing to submit a homework assignment on time to coach Mickey Arthur.

Offspinning allrounder Glenn Maxwell has been dropped after debuting in the second Test in Hyderabad.

Young batsman Steve Smith has been recalled along with pace bowler Mitchell Starc and offspinner Nathan Lyon.

India have promoted debutant Shikhar Dhawan for dumped opener Virender Sehwag and Pragyan Ojha replaces fellow spinner Harbhajan Singh.
