Rance accepts two-match AFL ban

Richmond defender Alex Rance will miss the under-siege Tigers’ upcoming AFL matches against Port Adelaide and Hawthorn after accepting a two-match ban for striking Melbourne forward Jack Watts.

Rance has been fiercely criticised for his forearm to the back of Watts’ head late in Sunday’s match against the Demons at the MCG.

Port Adelaide key backman Jackson Trengove will also sit out the round-six game against Richmond after submitting an early guilty plea and taking a one-match sanction for striking Geelong captain Joel Selwood.

The tribunal will not sit on Tuesday night after all of the players reported in the first eight games of round five pleaded guilty to the charges – the vast majority for being involved in melees.
