Outstanding three-year-old Pierro maintained an unbeaten Sydney record with a Group One Canterbury Stakes win at Rosehill on Saturday.
Giving veteran jockey Jim Cassidy his second Group One win on Coolmore Classic day, Pierro came out on top of his much-anticipated clash with stablemate More Joyous.

Cassidy, who earlier rode Foreteller to win the Ranvet Stakes, always had Pierro in striking distance of the leader Rain Affair and the three-year-old took control of the race at the 300m.
More Joyous followed her younger barn mate throughout the race but couldn’t bridge the gap.
Queensland sprinter-miler Solzhenitsyn ran on from the back of the field to finish third.
Pierro has won all of his nine Sydney starts, including last year’s Golden Slipper.
