Western Bulldogs lose twice in NAB Cup 2013

The Western Bulldogs are winless after the opening round of the AFL’s pre-season cup, losing to Essendon and Collingwood.

After the Bombers beat them by 26 points in the first of three mini-games on Friday night at Etihad Stadium, Collingwood overran them in the second half of game two to win by 18 points.

Dane Swan kicked the game’s only super goal early in the second half to put Collingwood ahead and they pulled away to win 1.6.2 (47) to 0.4.5 (29).

Rookie-listed midfielder Kyle Martin impressed in his first game for the Magpies and Jarryd Blair had a team-high 10 disposals.

The Bulldogs had more of the ball, but could not capitalise and the Magpies were more efficient in the second half.

Trailing by two points at halftime, the ‘Pies kicked four goals to one for a convincing win.

Clay Smith had 14 disposals for the Bulldogs, while Ryan Griffen and Lin Jong were also busy.

Star forward Travis Cloke kicked two second-half goals for the Magpies and Daniel Giansiracusa also booted two for the ‘Dogs.
