Punters with online bookmaker sportsbet expect More Joyous to account for Saturday’s Sheraco Stakes opposition and hold her position high in Cox Plate markets.
More Joyous is resuming from a spell at Rosehill and is the short priced favourite at $1.20 to start her campaign on a winning note.
Nearest to the mare in the betting is NSW Horse of the Year Streama, who, like the rest of the field, has been friendless in Sheraco betting at $11.
“There was a bit of controversy when Streama beat More Joyous for (NSW) Horse of the Year honours, but we think Gai’s mare will have her revenge in the Sheraco and so do the punters,” sportsbet.com.au’s Ben Hawes said.
“As soon as we opened the market after the barrier draw the punters came for her, including one bet of $25,000 at $1.22. We expect her to start at Black Caviar like odds.
“She’s a champion mare and her barrier trial win at Randwick last month was impressive. Gai and Nash (Rawiller) were signing her praise afterwards, so she’s obviously come back as good as ever.”
More Joyous, an eight time Group 1 winner, is being aimed at the Cox Plate, where stable mate Pierro is the reigning pre-post favourite at $4.50.
More Joyous and Manighar are the second line of betting at $7.00, with those three the only runners under double figures.
