The Sydney Roosters will start a clear favourite in Sunday’s NRL Grand Final against Manly with punters jumping on the Sydney bandwagon.
“We opened the Roosters a $1.67 favourite and they have firmed into $1.65 with plenty of early support while Manly has eased from $2.25 out to $2.30,” Centrebet’s Michael Felgate said.
Punters got a Grand Final preview when Sydney and Manly met in the first week of the finals series with the Roosters prevailing 4-0 in a slugfest.
“Manly is getting out to an attractive price, this is their fourth Grand Final in seven year so they know how to handle the pressure but the majority of early money has been for the Roosters,” Felgate said.
Manly’s upset win over South Sydney continued a 41 year Grand Final drought for the Bunnies, but It wasn’t all bad news for fans who backed the Rabbitohs at Centrebet. Punters who backed South Sydney got their money back on losing head to head bets after they led at half time but lost.
One Manly punter is hoping Matt Ballin can reproduce his weekend man of the match performance in the Grand Final after placing $150 on him at $101 to win the Clive Churchill Medal at the start of the month.
“He stands to collect more than $15,000 if he wins so it will be a nervous week. Ballin has been well supported in the last 24 hours and is now a $21 chance,” Felgate said.
Sonny Bill Williams is the favourite at $6 ahead of James Maloney and Daly Cherry Evans at $7.
